How Long Does a Typical Bathroom Remodel Take?
October 28, 20265 min readBy MKB Remodeling
Knowing the timeline helps you plan around a bathroom being out of service. Here is what a typical project looks like with us.
Typical timelines
- Standard hall or guest bathroom: usually 3 to 5 weeks.
- Larger primary bathrooms or projects that move plumbing: often 6 to 8 weeks.
Phase by phase
- Demolition and inspection of what is behind the walls and floor.
- Rough plumbing and electrical, followed by required inspections.
- Waterproofing the shower area, which needs proper cure time.
- Tile installation and grout.
- Vanity, countertop, fixtures, glass and trim.
- Final walkthrough and punch list.
What can slow a project down
- Hidden water damage or subfloor repairs.
- Special-order tile, vanities or custom glass.
- Inspection scheduling.
- Changes made after work begins.
One-day acrylic liners are faster, but a properly waterproofed tile shower is built to last decades. We will explain both options honestly.
